One Piece STRONG WORLD!!

Finally got to watch Strong World tonight!!! OMG I've been waiting to watch it since it came out in DVD this summer but I left right before I could rent it. I've been diligently following One Piece online throughout this semester and I'm really loving the 2yr development! Don't worry, no spoilers here. But if you're lagging behind, I hope you get the time to catch up!

Anyway, back to the movie. I totally love the random, extraneous costume change in the middle of the battle. Fuckin Luffy had that stored in his wardrobe all along. Gold D Roger coat? *cough* plotpoint *cough* And a salmon shirt? Real men wear salmon.
Just sayin. But srs, Luffy's wardrobe was awweesome in this movie. Totally dig guys with aviator goggles. And who can pull off shoulder bags. And are bare-chested... all the time. Sanji's tie-over-sweater was cute too I guess. For some reason Nami was kept practically naked throughout this film. There was even an episode where she deliberately decided to rip a decent gown to flaunt her hips and garters. WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST CLOTHES NAMI. Why am I only talking about the characters' wardrobes?? :/ Oh, you know they totally made this film just as an excuse to have them wield the big guns for once. Whut shotguns whut. Totally pointless when you can brandish THREE SWORDS. WITH YOUR MOUTH. Zoro fuckn kicks samurai ass. Yes, Tom Cruise. You know nuthin bout the way of the samurai go home. And I can't get enough of Gear 2nd and 3rd. I feel like the intensity of those battle scenes is what fuels me throughout the week. And if not, it's definitely the awesomeness of Eiichiro Oda's general understanding of human anatomy. Why he is so genius I will never comprehend but he is definitely a tremendous source of inspiration. All hail. omg rereading this I totally feel like such a nerd. Oh well no denying. Sleep time! night night.

Hally! Hally Pattah!

Been drawing all day! Omg so much to update. I'll do that sometime when it's not 4:12 in the morning. Here's a little snippet of what I did today:

For a friend, Vi-rose, whose dAbirthday is in 3 days. Can you tell I had chocolate mint ice cream for dessert? I tried emulating her style a bit.

Really quick sketch of Harry's first encounter with Cho on the Quidditch pitch. I dunno what pushed me to do this--I've never been a fan of Cho. But for some reason this scene has been on my mind. Man, once I'm done reading Water for Elephants, I really want to get back to Deathly Hallows for srrrsss review tiiiime.

That's all for now, folks! I reaaallly need to sleep.

Happy Holidays!

I hope you all have had or are having a wonderful Christmas!! Please treat yourself to the most scrumptious meal and dessert! After 2010 (which I've heard has been the hardest year for many people--definitely has been for me) you know you deserve a huuuuge treat! My treat today will be a Baskin&Robins' triple-flavored ice cream cake--yes!!

In SF nao.

Hey all! Greetings from the San Francisco international airport! I'm here now waiting for my transferring flight to Haneda airport, enjoying some black pepper pasta salad and an interesting hazelnut Italian soda.

I'm so tired--haven't slept properly in four days!! I'm actually looking forward to the 11 hour flight home! :) Get some decent sleeping done for a change. Anyway, yesterday was the winter formal--I was glad that a decent crowd showed up in the latter half of the night and we had a pretty fun time. The only downfall was the ridiculous storm that brutally drenched us from head to toe both going to and from Founders and the residents halls. It was awful outside.

Sorry, I really have nothing to report. Just excited to be going home! You'll hear from me next time from Tokyo! c: See youuuu!!

One to go

Finished my AmEx paper on World's Fairs that I talked about earlier, and I'm proud to say I'm highly satisfied. Now just one more Early Modern European Lit paper to do for Marie-Rose. This one will be an analysis of the function and value of travel from the medieval period all the way to the 18th century looking at chivalric quests, pilgrimages and world expeditions. I'm already 7 pages in on this one so I'm not too concerned but I want a fine product to submit in the end. I think I'll go for Founders Snacks, too, tonight. c:

In other news, I'm in love with a song right now--it's Regina Spektor's "Someday". This girl always speaks my heart in the most creative melody and verse.

HOOOOLORDY FLIPPING OUT

Okay, I am shamelessly making a big deal out of this. So my MOST FAVORITEST ARTIST EVER IN FOREVER OF COUNTLESS KALPAS PAST is now following my deviantart page and I'm just like...

For those of you who are on deviantArt, I'm sure you've come across Makani at some point. She is literally my inspiration since I was like twelve. Her Harry Potter fan arts are what inspired me to draw what I love. Til then, I was like a shut-in artist totally sensitive about sharing my drawings to anyone unless it was for a school project or something.

If you like Harry Potter, do me a favor and please check out her personal acciobrain! website. And if you're also into Guild Wars or Half Life, you might like her deviantart gallery, too. Enjooooooyyy!!

In class essay

Just finished my in-class exam for Sociology of Education. Gail's tests are always daunting... not so much the material but the quantity of writing. Nonetheless, I think I was able to plow through it... and the first to finish (yeah!) and 30 minutes early (double yeah!) and first dibs on doughnuts that she brought as a reward (triple yeah! +1 up!). So I'm satisfied that I was able to write six pages in 2 1/2 hours--but my hand is dead tired...

Anyway, just two more papers left and I'll be free! I'm really chanting to be able to enjoy my finals. Recently it's been so hard to focus and the rate of my writing has been so infuriatingly slow! Like one word per minute! D8 So I'm just chanting for my passion to kick in and to really have a brilliant finish to this semester. I've come this far!

Awesomefail!

ARIE GAVE ME YET ANOTHER SEMESTER EXTENSION!!!!!!!!

This will officially be an incomplete study in art prolonged for 5 semesters.
I should be so ashamed as an artist right now but I'm too busy being relieved.

Arie is a wonderful wonderful man. I have never come across any other professor that has been as understanding and patient and trustworthy. I seriously better make this course count!!

Finals and commissions

Finals are going all right. The rough portion (Monday) has passed. Now all I've got left are two papers by the 20th and an in-class paper (this one's gonna be tedious I'm sure) on Friday. I wished I could've written up more today but I felt so exhausted from yesterday and it didn't help that my menstrual cycle decided that this week would be the opportune occasion to drop by. She even brought along her irritating friend, Ultra Crampage. Ass.

I gave myself a break after 10pm to go stock up on some Spamusubi and Yakitori at the Grad Department Final Exams snack stand in Ruby's apartment. I only got there five past and already there was a ridiculously long 30 minute line. My hair now stinks of BBQ smoke.

But afterward I didn't feel like writing anymore so I decided to catch up on some commissions (I've got sooooo much to do this winter break). Here's one that I'm currently working on which is due before Christmas. Better hop to it.

All right, sleep time. Tomorrow's another long (and hopefully highly constructive) day of writing. With luck, I will be able to suppress my annoying guests with my good pal, Ibuprofen.

Tadaima!

Oh my god it was a long week!!! It still is a long week!!!
Finals are impending. I just had a presentation this morning for Sociology which I believe went pretty well. I was pretty eccentric to say the least--even without the additional mug of caffeine I was passionate about my topic as it was (the replacement of traditional grading systems with alternative assessment).

I spent the rest of the day preparing for the next American Experience presentation I have tomorrow. I'm having fun with this one, too. I'm looking at a couple of World Fairs that were held in the US and how through the process of exhibiting "American culture" they were in fact shaping a distinct American identity. It's interesting because for instance in the 1964/65 World's Fair in Queens, New York, a whole bunch of prominent industries such as General Electric, IBM, General Motors, Coca Cola, constructed pavilions displaying their visions of a "space age" in America's near future. There was a strong emphasis on the development of science and technology that promised for the raised standard of living. General Motors constructed a "Progressland" in which visitors could actually ride an attraction that cruised them through future sub-Oceanic resorts, remote-controlled massive desert reforestation machines and models of the future city landscape. There was even an interactive section on nuclear fusion and sub-atomic power for kids. Exposing citizens to these glamorous visions harvested in them a newfound perspective on their nation and the potential of their lives.

Anyway, so that's what I've been working on today. But I needed a break desperately, so I doodled some Harry Potter characters for relaxation:

A young, seasonal Lily Evans

In loving memory of Fred Weasley.
*BAWL*

Young Sevvy Snape, a self-proclaimed prince.

Aaaanyway das enouf. I need to sleeeeeep!!!

Blog hiatus

So it's happening. As of 3:00PM today I will cease to access all social networking sites for one whole week until 3:00PM next Wednesday, the 8th. Aaaaahhhh can I do it??? I must! Oh my internet is gonna be so sad and lonely, poor thing.
Flo: No! No no no! It's not you, it's me!
Internet: F*ck you! Don't give me that.
Flo: No I swear! I implore you not to take this personally.
Internet: I thought you were enjoying spending time with me!
Flo: No, honestly I do! It's just...
Internet: We surfed together--EVERY DAY!
Flo: I know! It's only a week of work...
Internet: Work?! You abandon me over work?
Flo: Well I...
Internet: Screw it! Come back when you've sorted out your priorities! *bluescreen*
Flo: DAMMIT!

Well... see you in a week I guess.

Discipline or the lack thereof

It's totally hopeless! I am soooo disoriented!! It's like I've turned to gas and every cell in my body is flying in all directions!! I read a book and all I see is "Not into this. Not into this. So not into this. I'm hungry. Not into this." I feel like a pigeon! A drooling babbling toddler has a longer attention span than me right now.

I'd always been a fairly academic student. I'm engaged in class, I enjoy discussions, I even see the merits in assignments and make the best of them...
USUALLY. Clearly that's not the case this semester. I might as well begin packing for winter break because the prospect of me succeeding in finals is... dismal.

No I just need to control myself.
I need discipline!

Yes, Shang. MAKE A MAN OUT OF ME. PUHLEEESE.

I was chanting today (oh btw I'm Buddhist. Yeah, hi.) and I came with the idea of going on a social networking site hiatus for a week... this week. At first I thought it was brilliant. Then in a moment I was scoffing at my ridiculous optimism.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT. MAYBE I SHOULD. YES I TOTALLY SHOULD.

I WILL.

Starting tomorrow!! ... afternoon... like... 3:00-ish.

morose

Feeling bleagh... I've kinda given in to the fact that I am just not academically charged this semester. I justify it by telling myself that it wasn't intended to be rigorous to begin with since I had to focus on my rehabilitation.

But with two weeks of classes left and a number of impending finals, projects and papers... my lack of drive, focus and discipline is really gonna slap my face in the end, I know it.

Still... I choose to draw HTTYD doodles instead of taking on the mountain of other things I probably could be doing.

What I buy'd today c:

I don't know how many times I've shopped off of Modcloth but seriously I never regret doing so. Free returns and exchanges and $7 nationwide shipping? It's a good deal! Anyway, I wanted to find something for Winter Formal because I've never bought a dress for any special occasion before. So I'm expecting these to arrive soon.

ONLINE SHOPPING IS AWESOME. WHY YOU HATE'N?!

Informal greetings!

Hi! I'm Florence!

Humble apologies, but I've got my hands tied with Thanksgiving break procrastinations so I can't offer a legit post at the moment... but here's some HTTYD fan arts to amuse you for the time being!
